All six seasons of How to Get Away with Murder are set to leave Netflix in the US and international regions later this year.

Spanning 90 episodes, the hit ABC series aired from 2014 to 2020 and has been a fan favorite on Netflix in the US for nearly a decade.

Created by Peter Nowalk, the show stars Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, a brilliant criminal defense attorney and law professor at Middleton University who, along with her students, becomes entangled in complex murder mysteries. The series also features a stellar cast including Billy Brown, Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Katie Findlay, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Karla Souza, Charlie Weber, and Liza Weil.

Netflix first licensed the show in the United States in September 2015, releasing new seasons annually. The streaming giant has held exclusive streaming rights for the series, while Hulu offered a catch-up service for prior seasons.

We’ve learned that How to Get Away with Murder will be leaving Netflix in two phases during the last few months of 2024:

• In the United States: All six seasons will be removed on October 1, 2024, with the last day to watch being September 30.
• In International Regions: Countries like the United Kingdom will retain the show a bit longer, with all six seasons leaving on December 9, 2024.

While removals often align with the final season’s addition date, that’s not the case here. Season 6 of How to Get Away with Murder was added to Netflix in June 2020, meaning the show has stayed on the platform longer than initially expected. Typically, Netflix holds the license for ABC shows for the duration of the series plus four years.

Although How to Get Away with Murder is leaving Netflix in the US, fans of Shonda Rhimes can still enjoy Grey’s Anatomy, which remains on Netflix and is also available on Disney+ and Hulu. With Grey’s Anatomy continuing to produce new seasons (season 21 is on the way), it will stay on Netflix US through at least 2028. Other Shondaland series, like Private Practice and Scandal, have already left Netflix in recent years.
